This was well-documented and recalls everything I read about during the trial of Brad Schwartz. While I am a voracious reader, this one took me over a week to read as it was personal to me: I have been friends with Brian Stidham since third grade and you would have never met a nicer person.I felt the usual anger and rage while reading about how Brian’s life was snuffed out at a young age, and the thousands of people he could have helped with their eyesight if he had lived and continued his medical practice. The biggest anger, however, is at the citizens of Tucson who directly heard and knew Brad Schwartz was looking for a way to kill Brian yet they didn’t lift a finger and try to stop it. One phone call is all it would have taken, yet no one wanted to be involved. As my friend Duane was quoted in the book, Tucson is evil; each of those people who did nothing are just as guilty as those convicted. If they had one shred of decency my friend Brian would still be alive, Daphne would have her husband, and their children would know their Dad.

Started out great. Way too many word for endless word transcripts. It's like the author managed to get transcripts or recordings.... And we get to hear every "um" and " ah"..... I had preordered this book,; my husband is a surgeon and so I do I know the competitive attitudes some surgeons can have. "Dr." Schwartz went above and beyond his call of duty in that regard.. It's like he asked every woman he dated if they'd kill his "rival." Schwartz 's anger was completely misplaced, but his ego was such that he had to blame someone for his mistakes. The trial is short and I had plenty of questions. The one question I didn't have was "are the right people behind bars?" YES. They are.

I really enjoyed this book. The author did a nice job weaving together a complicated case into something that was easy to follow, entertaining, and informative. I was familiar with the case already, but learned lots I didn’t know. Definitely worth the read - especially for true crime fans. One of those “you couldn’t make this up...” type of cases.

Toxic Rage reads like a novel in the way it reveals the story of one of Tucson's most infamous crimes. But it also has the clear and precise—and easy-reading—style that comes from a journalistic voice. The book bebefits greatly from being written by a journalist, and one who was there. I enjoyed it.

Interesting to find out more about this case as I was working at the court when the trial was going on. Rage can do terrible things but this book points out the view from all sides. Hope others will take the time to read and think about ramifications of our anger.

Toxic Rage takes a true crime story and turns it into a page turning thriller. Excellent writing and reporting. Clearly, the author is good at both. This book is a true story and enjoyable to read. Highly recommended.

It took a bit for me to get into the book while the (necessary) character backgrounds were being given, but once I got into the meat of the story I couldn't put it down until I finished!

Did not seem like the author put very much effort into the layout of the story. It was written like police reports. Contained multiple typos. Aside from the 4 main characters the characters were not well developed so it became very hard to keep track of the multitude of names/characters in the story.I was very disappointed because with such an organic outlandish storyline this could have been an amazing book. I’m still glad I read it, I’m also from Tucson and also work in Ophthalmology.
