I bought this book based on the number of positive reviews, hoping I could us it to teach my stats class. My initial impression is that the book could be much better formatted. The pages are generally too busy with different colors, boxes and other stylistic cues, and line spacing is irregular. The formatting of the mathematical equations is poorly done, eg the bar symbol for the mean is very badly typeset. I've not yet had a close look at the actual content except for the section on correlation. The style is similar to many modern text books on statistics, the recipe is taught but with little reference as to why it works. Knowing why helps one understand when it is appropriate to use a test or not and also gives much more insight into the test itself. This approach doesn't match my teaching style so I won't be using this book for class.

There is a number of errors throughout this book that I had to report via the OpenStax website. It was very strange to be using a college-level text and find so many glaring (roughly 15) mathematical errors in calculations throughout. My professor had to email almost weekly throughout the course with this.Beyond that, the text is laid out relatively well and is easy to follow. The calculator explanations are thorough enough for anyone that has a rudimentary knowledge of any TI calculator.

I am a statistics professor. Our math department has adopted this textbook. I am very impressed with the quality of this $33 book which has replaced the $200 book we were using. This is really a great book.

I'm entirely satisfied with the actual purchase and shipping, it's merely the book itself I take exception to. That said, it was required for my coursework and was after all cheap. Frankly, the price is right for this book, because it is NOT the level of instruction or quality I would expect from a college textbook.Every other college level math book I have used provided enough of a primer on formulas and techniques to learn autodidactically. This book often gives a brief history of the techniques, then the majority of the chapters will be example problems for you to work on your own, I honestly would have been lost without my notes from class.

I just finished College Statistics 2023 and wanted a hardcover book for a second perspective from my class paperback rental. I am very happy with this book as a desktop reference and like that it also incorporates the TI 84 calculator. It is well organized and I would recommend this book to anyone that wants to stay proficient in Statistics, the formulas and symbols appendix is more complete than my textbook was. Thank you for keeping this very reasonably priced.

I found that taking the Book to be much more easier to understand if taken with the free online MOOC class. The author seemed to explain it much better visually than just reading the book.

Good luck if you are using this in a class. The online version, pdf version, ibooks version, and hard copy EACH have different page numbers. They assign different numbers to homework problems. Teachers think they are doing students a favor using an open source book b/c it is free. You really get what you pay for.
